How This File Organizer Can
Organize Your Research Information, Files,
Photos In Record Time
(Organizing Your Notes, Files, Ideas
Just Got Easier!)
Memtree is
a personal information manager that lets you
organize your notes, files, research, code
snippets, print screens in a tree-like Windows
Explorer form

- you don't have time for searching
misplaced notes you know are somewhere on your hard drive
- you don't have time for searching
misplaced files
- keep related files, ideas, notes together
- add notes to files you save in Memtree
- keep track of your projects and ongoing
tasks
- you are collecting information that you
want to compare
- you want to keep you internet downloads
organized and documented
| "I
use memtree to keep track of patches
and downloads from the internet. With all the
installation notes and documentation kept
together it serve as a great
backup of all my downloads,
licencing info, and user names and passwords
of the various download sites" |

Information you need to manage are
self-generated, but you can also receive
information that is in larger chunks and come
from other sources. An user may need to
index or organize larger chunks of text or files
such as memos, reports, messages, news stories,
images, the web (very large source), or files
(documents and programs). It is useful to add
some descriptive text to a file that you down
loaded. To cope with the task of organizing files
and notes, you group them, and save into nodes in
a tree view.
You may be unaware of the volume of information
you manage on a regular basis. You may be using a
variety of mechanisms to store collected
information which include aids as note cards,
yellow sticky notes, piece of paper store in your
pocket or hand bag, and lists on paper that are
re copied on a regular basis. In general,
personal information is too ad hoc and poorly
structured to warrant putting it into a
record-oriented on-line database.
Common uses for MemTree
Why delete files, or storing them on
removable media if you want to use it in the future or near
future. Save the file in memtree to obtain more free space on
your hard drive. Why saving an extra text file to keep notes
about a file that you saved on you hard drive. With memtree
you can attach a note to the file and view it with all other
properties of the file. You can also do searches on this
notes. If the note contains the search term this file will
show up in the search results screen. To locate the file just
double click on the item in the search results screen.

Directions, Legal data, Procedures, Case notes,
Contracts, Letter templates, Code snippets, Instructions, Sales
leads, Client notes, Internet data, Medical data, Project
plans/notes, Electronic mail, Downloads, Program patches & updates, Release notes, Correspondence, Buyer/Seller
lists, Accounting notes, Phone messages,
Account numbers, Engineering notes, Administrative notes,
Conversation notes, Customer service notes,
are examples of documents that you
can save. In fact,
any document or file that
you can save on your
hard drive, you can
save in Memtree.
What information can be stored? Could
you save files in the application instead of just
linking them?
The problem with linking
files, is that you can accidentally delete a file
from your hard disk without knowing that the file
was linked to a program. To keep your files
save, they will be save in the applications data
files. When you need the file, you can save it to
a new location, or you can run it from within the
application. When it is a data file, like a word
document, or a spreadsheet, or a Corel draw
painting, it can also be opened within the
Memtree application.
Use Memtree to collect code snippets for
easy reference when learning a new language
(Developers)
Memtree has a text area where you can
select a certain programming language. All the code that you enter
will be checked against the syntax editor. If you want to learn a
new language, like HTML, you simply select HTML, and you can enter
the HTML code. All reserved words, will be bold, text will be blue,
or what color you select. If you want to learn a language that is
not available in the program, you can define all the rules that
apply. The different elements of the language can be color coded in
different colors.
Grouping or categorizing files
You can
easilly keep files or subjects that are related together
in a group. These groups or categories are displayed in a
tree. You can then later move files to other categories
if the new category fits the file better, or you can move a whole
category to another category.
You can easilly move a file to another category by
just drag and drop the file into the new
category. You can view an online demo.

What does the program look like?"
- A toolbar that lets you access most
functions with a single click
- A tree view that makes it easy to
navigate between the different items.
- You can start multiple trees. One for
research, another one that serve as a database for files that you
downloaded from the internet. Another one that you use for
learning a new language. Actually, it is unlimited to the number
of trees that you can start.
- MemTree allows full rich text editing of articles; font:
bold, italic, underline, strike through, subscript, superscript,
color, font background color, font name, font size, color-marker;
paragraph: left, right, center, justify, bullets (normal,
numbered), indents and even include a high lighter if you
wish to highlight some text.
- When adding files you can add some
descriptive text for that file.
- Easy backups. There is one backup file
for all the trees. When backing up you only have to backup the
backup file to tape or CD or another location. This backup uses a
high compression ratio.
- Easy to search for keywords or text when
the tree becomes large.
- You can also use bookmarks. When you work
on a piece of information, and you close the application, when
reopening the tree, you can just select the bookmark to start
where you've stoped.
- Context sensitive help, if you need some
move information on a function in the program.
- Free support and upgrades to minor
versions.
